Even though summer’s over, the real fun has only just begun with all the anticipated beauty trends we’ll be seeing this fall season. Although we love the minimalist makeup look and various latte trends that reign supreme all summer long, we also welcome the eye-catching autumn beauty looks that await us just over the horizon.

Yes, we’re moving from the sweltering summer heat with bolder makeup (bye-bye, sweat-proofing our everyday looks!) and ushering in vibrant pops of color, chromatic finishes, and modern iterations of popular beauty trends from way back when. It’s time to celebrate the collective shift in beauty that steers us away from the somber color palette of our past, and pivots us directly in front of unconventional shades, textural moments, and a fresh take on vintage looks.

Get ready to take advantage of all that the new season has in store for us! Get ready for all-out autumn glam with IPSY’s forecast of 2024’s fall beauty trends.

1. Doll Lashes

Long, wispy, and fully-fanned out dolly lashes are back in fashion, literally. If you’re following Fashion Week, then you may have gotten a glimpse at the luscious eyelash trend gracing the runways. If you’re anything like us, you’re amped up on the emphasis around bolder eyes this season. Not a fan of falsies? No problem, you can still achieve the dramatic and furled-out lashes of your dreams with a good mascara. Our pick is the BENEFIT Fan Fest Mascara.

2. Pops of Pigment

Playful pops of color are punctuating the muted color scheme typically dominating fall makeup, and we are living for it. Something about vivid and whimsical hues around the eyes just hits different during the colder seasons, and we’re all for breaking free of the style norms that keep us from expressing our unique beauty. Instead of covering the entire lid with eyeshadow, get creative with your application and placement. Just a flash of baby blue shadow along your crease, or a streak of pink on the inner corners can take your makeup look from mid to mogging. We recommend a palette that features high-impact pigments, like the Infinite Palette by OFRA COSMETICS.

3. Monochromatic Muse

We’re seeing a lot of vibrant looks on the horizon for fall—but for the makeup lover who doesn’t want to totally go there, you’re in luck because monochromatic is very much going to be a thing. As seen here with this faint shade of metallic purple, one all-over makeup color will be a hot trend, but it won’t necessarily be a bold shade.

4. Iced-Out Eyes

We love the opulence and galactic feel that frosted shimmer eyeshadows create, and are happy to see iced-out lids popping up on our feeds. The cool-toned shimmery look is giving new-wave Narnia. Pair it with pencil-thin, drawn-on eyebrows (sans any actual plucking!), a baby-pink lippie, and a flush of peach pigment over the cheeks, and you’re channeling peak early-aughts era. We love the frost-bitten shadows in LUCKY CHICK’s Daydreams Eyeshadow Palette.

5. Metallic Eyeliner

Eyeliner is going metal. Instead of the usual black kohl lining our lids and waterline, we’re seeing some more sheen with chromatic and metallic finishes. And it’s not limited to just steely grays and silver tones, but the entire spectrum of color. From gleaming greens and electric blues to bronze-dipped gold liners, this trend is making its way into your future eye looks. We love using DANESSA MYRICKS BEAUTY’s Infinite Chrome Micropencil to transform a look from basic to bold.

6. Grungy, Smoked-Out Eyes

The possibilities are endless with a smoky-eye look; instead of going in heavy with an eyeliner, use an eyeshadow so that the pigments are more blendable. The diffused and sheered-out smokiness adds an element of minimalism to a maximalistic look. Choosing different colors could be just what you need to rock a chic Britain-in-the-late-’70s look without the raccoon effect. We’re going with the GIRLACTIK Essential Palette for the perfect smoky eye, which offers pops of color and shimmer for that glam-meets-grunge look.

7. Kitten Eyeliner

While the cat-eye or winged liner trend never went away, we’re seeing these corner cutters take on a more subtle tone this fall. Instead of thick, dramatic wings soaring up into our temples, we’re seeing a subdued and barely-perceptible flick at the very corner of our eyes. The key is to make it so that it’s virtually blending in with your luscious corner lashes. The eyeliner to create this chic look would be PIXI BEAUTY’s Eye Define Waterline

8. Boyfriend Blush

Just when we think we’ve seen every possible blush technique there is, boyfriend blush pops up to steal our hearts. It’s also referred to as “little-boy blush” for its resemblance to the rosy flush of bright red color that often appears on little boys’ cheeks after a day of fun and play. Following that as a blueprint, you basically flood your lower cheeks with an overkill of blush. The color doesn’t matter—no two boys blush the exact same way. Play around with your personal boyfriend blush style—we recommend IL MAKIAGE’s Mineral Baked Blush to bring all of your bashful looks to life.

9. Think Pink

Pink is making a comeback, and this time, it’s not just for millennials. Just like the side part, this revival is one we did not expect to see. There’s no wrong way to do this trend, either—whether you prefer a bold, baby-pink eyeshadow with heavy liner, liner-free lids doused in pink pigment on a bare face, playful pink under and around your eyes and blended down into your cheeks, or a plush, pink pout. The ALAMAR Viva Las Cheekas Palette has the most rich hot pink shade among its mix of blush, highlighter, and contour, and we love how versatile it is.

10. Just-Bitten Red Lips

Yes, we know—the red lip never really goes out of style, but we stan the glam red lippies that we’ve seen lately. Whether it’s the classic cool-toned rouge that will always slay, or deeper shades like cranberries and cherry wines, as well as purple-leaning pigments, red lips are (still) having their moment. Finding a color that suits your skin tone will be the *chef’s kiss* to your vampy-lip look, but universal reds make choosing that much easier. We love DEFIANCE BEAUTY Luminous Liquid Lipstick for their vivid lippies that last all day. FYI, nothing ruins a bold red lip than dry, flaky skin underneath. We recommend using a lip balm like the ESTATE COSMETICS Most Wanted Lip Balm beforehand for a smooth and hydrated application.
